DOE Funding Initiative

Building a Scalable Domestic Printable Copper Materials Platform

Aesyon is seeking Department of Energy support to scale and independently validate engineered copper particles as a domestic, lower-cost conductive materials platform for energy and advanced manufacturing.

The objective is not development of a single product. It is establishment of a scalable domestic materials platform capable of supporting multiple energy applications.

Platform rationale

Four reasons this platform is DOE-relevant

01

Domestic Supply Chain

U.S.-based raw materials and manufacturing capabilities are abundant and strategically important for reliable supply of conductive materials.

02

Competitive Electrical & Thermal Performance

Copper-based materials targeted at the conductivity and heat-transfer requirements of next-generation energy systems.

03

Scalable Manufacturing

Designed around existing industrial equipment and processes to reduce capital intensity.

04

25–80% Potential Material-Cost Reduction

Preliminary application-specific economics indicate potential material-cost reductions of approximately 25–80% versus incumbent alternatives.

Value chain

From engineered particle to energy infrastructure

The objective is a scalable domestic materials platform capable of supporting multiple energy applications — not a single product.

Stage 02 — Formulation

Conductive Formulations

Engineered particles are incorporated into application-specific conductive inks and formulations designed for industrial manufacturing processes.

  • Air processable
  • Pressureless
  • Low-temperature processing
  • Solderable
  • Screen printing compatible
  • Roll-to-roll compatible

Stage 04 — Energy infrastructure

Energy Infrastructure

From materials innovation to scalable energy infrastructure.

Advanced energy manufacturing, power electronics, grid hardware and domestic industrial production define the longer-range opportunity for a scaled copper materials platform.

Formulation flexibility

Engineered to Specifications

adjustable degradability, viscosity, particle size, adhesion to specific substrates, and metallization rates. Formulations can also be tailored for transient electronics and resistance to specific environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and weather exposure.
